Worry Not

@bwycbic

So many Christians ‘worry or are anxious ‘why? Do we not have enough food, drink, money or whatever it is. The Bible tells us in Philippines 4v5 not to worry or be anxious but to pray and God will easy and remove your worries or anxieties.

Worry is an anxious way of thinking and speaking about yourself. This causes a behaviour change such as stress or agitation. Our God wants us to be in faith and be at peace. If you haven’t gathered worry is bad for you and you want to break the habit read on.

The Bible is even more clearer in Matthew 6 v 25-34. These verses are from Jesus himself, He says don’t worry. Now I hear you say that’s easy for Him to say that but I can’t stop worrying its the situation I’m in.

As you are a person of faith and believe in our God read Matthew 6 v 25-34. Really focus in on verse 30 either in KJV, NLT, AMPC or ESV at the end of this verse it says, ‘You of little FAITH’!

Jesus is challenging you to increase your faith, cast aside worry or and anxiety and step into deeper faith and be at peace.

When I read these verses and verse 30 hit me it told me I had little faith. So what did I do about it? It wasn’t easy but I reframed worry and changed it to concerned. Everything Iused the word worry I changed it to concerned and asked for forgiveness.

Now that sounds easy but it took me almost a year to change my thinking, self-talk and spoken word. Now it’s established I automatically and very very rarely I do say worry, however if I do it is followed by concerned very quickly and I ask God for forgiveness.

It’s a challenge however if you have read this far why not challenge yourself and STOP saying WORRY. Amen

A Winning Attitude

In the book of Numbers chapter 13 & 14 we read God ordering Moses to choose 12 leaders from each tribe and send them to spy on the land of Canaan. Moses instructed them to find the nature of the country, its population and military strength, degree of fertility and physical security. He also asked them to bring some of the fruits that grow there. (It was the season when Grapes were beginning to ripe) Twelve spies spied the land and their observations were same. They found that the land is rich and fertile, (Numbers 13:23-27) and that the inhabitants of Canaan are stronger and they live in cities that are very large and fortified, (Numbers 13:28-29).

But this is where the similarities end. Chapter 13 says except for Caleb and Joshua every one else had already thrown up the cards. Why did the spies act so weirdly? They were controlled by their defeated attitudes. When you perceive something in a certain way it is called your personal attitude. There are defeating attitudes and Winning attitudes.

Do you know where you are going?

Confused!!

Most people if asked will convince you they have and may take offence simply by asking, nevertheless I guess most have not and simply walk through life and life events.   Very few people I guess have some sort of plan.

However, what would be our reaction if those we asked said simply “Yes” God directs my path! I am fairly sure many will would look perplexed, , bewildered smile and say oh! Either ask ok great but what are you doing with your life or simply say “that’s fine” and walk away thinking wrong thoughts, how mad, how odd what a strange person.

Empowerment 3 ~ Caged Eagles

Moving on from last week’s “Empowerment (Trust) Matrix quadrant “entrenched in bunkers”, this week we will briefly look at “caged eagles”.

Caged Eagles

                 The Empowerment (Trust) Matrix

Low trust   Entrenched in Bunkers       Caged Eagles

High trust   Flying Blind                           Empowered Individuals

             Low Enablement               High Enablement

Let me be quite clear, I believe there are two types of caged eagles, firstly those who caged in by their mind set (ducks) and secondly there are those who are ready to learn and grow (eagles), however, they are caged in by attitudes, beliefs and opinions of others.

Empowerment 2 ~ Entrenched in Bunkers

Last time I introduced the “Empowerment (Trust) Matrix this week we will briefly look at the first quadrant “entrenched in bunkers”.

The Empowerment (Trust) Matrix

Low trust                     Entrenched in bunkers                Caged Eagles

High Trust Flying Blind ~ Empowered Individuals

                                    Low Enablement                           High Enablement

As leaders within the church we need to recognise those who appear to be in entrenched bunkers and begin the engagement process. These individuals are recognisable as they hide within the church, they may have been hurt by others in the past and their behaviour is perhaps viewed as marginal not able to offer or expected to do much and thus they are left on the fringes.
