Good Friday

For Christians, Good Friday is a crucial day of the year because it celebrates what we believe to be the most momentous weekend in the history of the world. Ever since Jesus died and was raised, Christians have proclaimed the cross and resurrection of Jesus to be the decisive turning point for all creation. Paul considered it to be “of first importance” that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and was raised to life on the third day, all in accordance with what God had promised all along in the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:3).

On Good Friday we remember the day Jesus willingly suffered and died by crucifixion as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins (1 John 1:10). It is followed by Easter, the glorious celebration of the day Jesus was raised from the dead, heralding his victory over sin and death and pointing ahead to a future resurrection for all who are united to him by faith (Romans 6:5). God is Love Jesus is Love and without Jesus we cannot be born again and live with Him for Eternity. Friendship is better than religion. Jesus calls us friends when we choose Him and want to live for Him. Faith Love and Hope and the greatest of these is Love.

We don’t need to be reminded that Jesus is the reason for the season but the world needs reminding.
God bless you all and your house.

Are You Living A Life Of True Significance?

Following on from my last post on Nehemiah I thought that this hort post full of thought provoking questions would be of value.

An unknown quote; “I may, I suppose, regard myself as a relatively successful man. People occasionally stare at me in the streets. Thats fame; I can fairly easily earn enough money to qualify for admission to the higher slopes of the Internal Revenue Service. Thats success. Furnished with money and a little fame[I] may partake of friendly diversions. Thats pleasure. It might even happenthat something I said or wrote was sufficiently heeded for me to persuade myself that it represented a serious impact on our time. Thats fulfillment

Do you want extraordinary results? Learn from Nehemiah.

We know God is in the business of working through his people to accomplish seemingly impossible tasks. One such man who embarked on what seemed to be an impossible task was, Nehemiah.

God needed him remember Jerusalem’s wall was still in ruins, and the news broke his heart. As he talked to God, a plan began to take form in Nehemiah’s mind about his own role in the rebuilding of the city walls. He willingly left the security of his home and job in Persia to follow God on an “impossible” mission. And the rest as they says is history.

From beginning to end, Nehemiah prayed for God’s help. He never hesitated to ask God to remember him, closing his autobiography with these words: “Remember me with favour, O my God.” Throughout the “impossible” task, Nehemiah displayed unusual leadership. The wall around Jerusalem was rebuilt in record time, despite resistance. Even Israel’s enemies grudgingly and fearfully admitted that God was with these builders. Not only that, but God worked through Nehemiah to bring about a spiritual awakening among the people of Judah.

Building on from my last post……

2 Peter 1:3 ~ 7 (AMP) ~ Character qualities to develop in life.

3 For His divine power has bestowed on us [absolutely] everything necessary for [a dynamic spiritual] life and godliness, through [a]true and personal knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.  4By means of these He has bestowed on us His precious and exceedingly great promises, so that through them you may escape [by flight] from the moral decay (rottenness and corruption) that is in the world because of covetousness (lust and greed), and become sharers (partakers) of the divine nature.   5For this very reason, adding your diligence [to the divine promises], employ every effort in exercising your faith to develop virtue (excellence, resolution, Christian energy), and in [exercising] virtue [develop] knowledge (intelligence),   6And in [exercising] knowledge [develop] self-control, and in [exercising] self-control [develop] steadfastness (patience, endurance), and in [exercising] steadfastness [develop] godliness (piety),   7And in [exercising] godliness [develop] brotherly affection, and in [exercising] brotherly affection [develop] Christian love.

Living as children of the light.

I don’t know about you however, during these uncertain times when we have perhaps been challenged by the way we live, think, act and feel, asking myself am I  living as a child of the light?  Perhaps we have thought more about our priorities in life and want to reconfigure, maybe we have allowed fear and uncertainty to gain a grip.

Dare I say it, that for some we have not sought God or His word and allowed the world’s thoughts, behaviours or attitudes to gain a hold?  I am sure we have all been challenged; I have personally been challenged during this time of lockdown with covid-19.  There have been times when I know I have got a bit angry, frustrated and a bit selfish, nevertheless with God’s grace I am being challenged and changed.  How fabulous to have the Holy Spirit work within us, to bring us into alignment with His word and to walk as children of the light.

A Winning Attitude

In the book of Numbers chapter 13 & 14 we read God ordering Moses to choose 12 leaders from each tribe and send them to spy on the land of Canaan. Moses instructed them to find the nature of the country, its population and military strength, degree of fertility and physical security. He also asked them to bring some of the fruits that grow there. (It was the season when Grapes were beginning to ripe) Twelve spies spied the land and their observations were same. They found that the land is rich and fertile, (Numbers 13:23-27) and that the inhabitants of Canaan are stronger and they live in cities that are very large and fortified, (Numbers 13:28-29).

But this is where the similarities end. Chapter 13 says except for Caleb and Joshua every one else had already thrown up the cards. Why did the spies act so weirdly? They were controlled by their defeated attitudes. When you perceive something in a certain way it is called your personal attitude. There are defeating attitudes and Winning attitudes.

Do you know where you are going?

Confused!!

Most people if asked will convince you they have and may take offence simply by asking, nevertheless I guess most have not and simply walk through life and life events.   Very few people I guess have some sort of plan.

However, what would be our reaction if those we asked said simply “Yes” God directs my path! I am fairly sure many will would look perplexed, , bewildered smile and say oh! Either ask ok great but what are you doing with your life or simply say “that’s fine” and walk away thinking wrong thoughts, how mad, how odd what a strange person.
