When your leadership A.S.K. (Attitudes, Skills & Knowledge) are questioned shake off the dust, learn the lesson from the farmer and donkey.
‘One day a farmer’s donkey fell into an abandoned well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old and the well needed to be covered up anyway; so it just wasn’t worth it to him to try to retrieve the donkey.
He invited all his neighbours to come over and help him. They each grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. Realising what was happening, the donkey at first cried and wailed horribly. Then, a few shovelfuls later, he quieted down completely.
The farmer peered down into the well, and was astounded by what he saw. With every shovelful of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up on the new layer of dirt. As the farmer’s neighbours continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up.
Pretty soon, the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and trotted off, to the shock and astonishment of all the neighbours. Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt.
Lesson; the trick to getting out of the well is to not let it bury you, but to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a stepping stone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up’!
Biblical lessons:
Jesus said in Mark 6:11 (KJV)And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgement, than for that city.
Lessons Paul & Barnabas’s example in Acts 13:48-52
They preached the good news to the gentiles who were uplifted and many it says gave their lives to Jesus
With the good news others who were opposed to the teaching stirred up troubles
The word stirred means : To agitate, to incite, to instigate in extreme to cause people to question and rebellion. In its widest sense to stir someone you will more than likely sowing discord
The Lord hates six things but the seventh He really finds it an abomination, read Psalm 6:16-19
Paul & Barnabas did not take it personally, they took no offence the bible says, they simply shook their feet and went to Iconium. Once we take things personally we open the door of wrong thinking, wrong feelings which intern lead to wrong behaviour, attitudes and beliefs and take us out of alignment with God.
Walk in peace and with the comfort of the Holy Spirit.
